At Taurikura NZ, we believe that building cultural capacity is essential for creating diverse, inclusive, thriving organisations and communities.
We work with organisations, from a framework and cultural values of Te Ao Māori, in practical ways to support their visions, aspirations and goals.
We also work to strengthen the voices of hapori Māori, communities, groups & organisations to enable them to shape their desired futures in sustainable ways.
We seek to work with groups, organisations and communities to undertake “heart” projects, or projects which have an underlying social good.
We are eager to work with organisations that share similar values and wish to advance the cause of an Aotearoa\New Zealand that promotes social equity and celebrates our cultural heritage.
Taurikura NZ has established a wide range of networks and positive, effective community relationships within a wide range of sectors and industries.
For example, we have worked with organisations involved in
The future is not something we enter.
The future is something we create.
Kawe and Kirsty are the co-directors of Taurikura NZ. They draw from the cultural values of Te Ao Māori to inform “heart projects” or kaupapa that are concerned with the future for our communities of Aotearoa\New Zealand.
They believe in building a sense of collective purpose and strength through shared experience, working together and cultivating a sense of belonging to a group\community. This includes a worldview that is fundamentally relational and emphasises the importance of making connections and establishing effective, positive and collaborative relationships.
They frequently refer to #makingmokopunadecisions which means taking a long-term perspective when making important decisions, and measuring success in terms of organisational and community wellbeing. This also refers to organisations which put community, environmental and cultural impacts at the centre of what they do.
They share a commitment to creating an Aotearoa where everyone, including future generations, have opportunities to thrive and achieve their aspirations.
Between them they have a wide range of experience and expertise in a range of sectors while sharing a background in community development and organisational culture change.
